Dr. Wahl explains: “My questions about human sexuality began when my best friend brought his father’s cache of adult magazines onto the school bus in grade school. I was raised in an ultra-conservative town where sex was taboo and never discussed. My questions had to wait until fifth grade, when I found a copy of Alfred Kinsey’s ‘Sexual Behavior in the Human Male.’ As my questions began to receive answers, I wanted to learn all I could about sexuality. I also wanted to answer other people’s questions. Sex is a foundational aspect of the human experience. Being knowledgeable of our sexuality contributes to the development of our sexual selfhood, provides the ability to make informed decisions about our sexuality, and enhances our overall state of humanness.”
